The Shy Bride
Harlequin Presents                                                  July 2010 ~ (c) Lucy Monroe

The Port of Seattle didn’t look so different from some of the hundreds of other ports Neo Stamos had been in since joining the crew of the cargo ship Hera at the age of fourteen. And yet it was unique from all the others because this is where his life changed. This is where he would walk off the Hera and never walk back onto it.

He and his friend Zephyr Nikos had had to lie about their ages to join the Hera’s crew six years ago, but that had been a small price to pay in order to leave behind the life they’d known in Greece. Neo and Zephyr had been Athens street thugs that found a common desire – that of making something more of their lives than rising to top ranks in their gang.

And they were going to do it, twenty-year-old Neo vowed as the sun broke the eastern horizon.
“You ready for the next step?” Zephyr asked in English.

Neo nodded, his gaze set on the port growing closer by the minute. “No more living in the streets.”

“We haven’t lived in the streets for six years.”

“True. Though some would not consider our bunks here on the Hera much of an improvement.”

“They are.”

Neo agreed, though he didn’t say so. Zephyr knew and shared his feelings. Anything was better than scavenging to eke out an existence that still required living by someone else’s rules. “But what is to come will be even better.”

“Yes. It may have taken six years, but we have the money to take the next step in our new lives.”
Six years of a hell of a lot of hard work and sacrifice. They had saved every drachma possible of their earnings. For two men who had grown up in an orphanage and then the streets when they ran away, that had been a lot. They knew how to come by clothes, books and other necessities through interesting if not necessarily illegal methods. Not unless one considered underage gambling a stumbling block to legality.

When they were not working, or gambling to augment their meager salaries, they had been reading everything they could get their hands on about business and real estate development. Each had become an expert in a different aspect of the field, combining their superior brain power rather than duplicating effort.
They now had a detailed plan to increase their assets through initially flipping houses and eventually full scale, high end real estate developments.

“Next it will be business tycoons Zephyr Nikos and Neo Stamos,” Zephyr said with conviction.

A slow, extremely rare smile curved Neo’s lips. “Before we are thirty.”

“Before we are thirty.” Zephyr’s voice was filled with the same determination Neo felt deep in his gut.

They would succeed.

Failure was not an option.

Small town life can be quirky, magical ...

With a full moon hanging over the apple orchards of Delicious, Ohio,
romance is in the air, and three couples are about to experience the
magic of falling in love.

Down on Jonathan Avenue, the shy proprietor of the quaint bookstore can’t seem to keep her fantasies about a famous writer to herself. While at The Old Orchard Inn the tempting smell of spiced hot cider lures an out-of-town investor to investigate the magnetic attraction of his sultry but strangely old-fashioned manager. And over at Apple of My Pie a play-by-the-rules accountant wants much more than tasty treats from the pop up food truck’s on-again-off-again baker.

Moon Magnetism

Ivy Kendall dreads the full moon. For generations, women in her family have been extremely magnetic on that day—which was fine fifty years ago but not in the age of hard drives and cell phones. That’s why the hotel manager has resisted the technological improvements her boss wants her to implement. Now, the sexy, dynamic Blake Hawthorne is coming to insist on the upgrades in person. Shoot, he’ll probably fire her. Being around Blake makes her body go as haywire as a full moon, maybe even more. And as long as she’s going to be out of a job soon, there’s no reason not to use a little of that magnetism to her advantage, luring him into an elevator where the only electricity that will work is the kind they generate themselves... Once in a Blue Moon

It’s all because of that stupid blue moon. That’s what Stan Tucker thinks as he walks through Delicious, Ohio, suddenly privy to everyone’s innermost thoughts, a gift courtesy of a rare blue moon. What most people have on their minds is boring—grocery lists, work woes, appointments. But not Jenna Rowan’s super-private thoughts. The pretty, shy bookstore owner is having decidedly hot thoughts about Stan...naked, sweaty, not-for-primetime thoughts. Stan’s lusted after Jenna for ages, but he never thought the proper lady was interested. Now that he knows, he intends to do something about it, and this time, he won’t be the only one howling at the moon...

Apple of My Pie

Mona runs a pop-up bakery in Delicious, Ohio. Dan has a small accounting office in town, with a nice view of the town square — where Mona parks her mobile bakery every month or so. Dan is a hardworking guy who has built his business up from nothing, and he can’t stand the way Mona flits in and out of business whenever the mood strikes her. Still, he can’t deny her popularity, or her clever business sense. Or her figure under those Full Moon Sweets t-shirts. But Mona’s not just capricious — there’s a reason she can’t run her business full time. Will straight-laced Dan be able to handle the truth? Or is he too sweet to be true?

Watch for the rerelase out this Fall!

If you loved Lucy Monroe’s COME UP AND SEE ME SOMETIME, you won’t want to miss her latest romance! Funny, sexy, and full of heart, Monroe’s new novel makes “goodness” a whole lot better…

The last woman business consultant Marcus Danvers expects to find at Kline Electronics is Veronica Richards. He’s supposed to be rooting out a corporate spy, not rehashing an old love affair—with the woman who sold out the company they both used to work for and then took off without so much as a kiss goodbye. All the clues point to Ronnie as the firm’s newest mole, which means he’ll have to spend time with the stubbornly reticent—and mouthwateringly sexy—woman he hasn’t been able to forget, and uncover every last thing she has to hide…

It’s just Ronnie’s luck. The one man she’d hoped never to see again is suddenly everywhere she looks—and taking up a starring role in her daydreams, too. Remembering the passion she and Marcus once shared certainly isn’t going to help, though, not when she has so many secrets, and no explanation for the way she left him eighteen months ago—or at least not one he’ll want to hear. The problem is, when Marcus is around all her good intentions go up in smoke…

“I think we’ve got a spy.”

Marcus Danvers’s announcement erupted in Alex’s mind like Mt. St. Helens on a bad day.

Pushing his chair back slightly from the massive walnut desk that sat in the center of his office, Alex met Marcus’s expectant stare. “Why?”

Leaning in the open doorway, his six-foot-two-inch frame exuding casual relaxation while, Marcus’s blue eyes glittered with anticipation and amusement. “Harrison’s daughter called this morning.”

The closer they got to seeing John Harrison’s company dismantled, the less humor Alex found in anything.

Marcus crossed the oversized office and sat down in one of the chairs facing Alex’s desk. “She wanted to know if I liked the idea of changing employers. Ms. Harrison said that she had a client interested in someone with my skill set and experience.”

Alex shrugged, making a concentrated effort not to overreact and feed Marcus’s off-beat sense of humor. “She works for one of the most exclusive headhunting agencies in the Portland area. She makes a lot of calls like the one you received this morning.”

Although he’d never met Isabel, Alex had no doubt she was a lot like her father. He stole men’s ideas. She stole employees, specializing in the hi-tech industry. According to his sources, she was very good at her job.

Marcus stretched out his long legs and crossed them at the ankle. “If you ask me, it’s too much of a coincidence right now. Our client is only months away from closing the deal on her dad’s company and she calls your most valuable employee trying to lure him away.”

“My most valuable employee being you?”

“Well, yes.” Marcus attempted a modest look of acceptance. “Not to mention an employee with inside information St. Clair’s plans to take Hypertron apart.”

Alex nodded. “I’ll look into it.”
Marcus stood up to leave.

“What did you say to her?”

Marcus turned around, his brows raised in mockery. “If I’d said yes, I wouldn’t have told you about the phone call, now would I?”

“With your twisted sense of humor, that’s not a given.”

“I told her no, boss. I’m not interested in leaving CIS. Working for you gives me a chance to use my hunter’s instincts without dressing up in fatigues and chasing some poor animal through the forest.”

With a sardonic smile, Marcus left.

In her newest love story, bestselling author Lucy Monroe invites you into a world of dazzling beauty, daring adventure, and sensual delight...

Outspoken, opinionated Thea Selwyn is no ordinary lady. Raised in the exotic West Indies, she has none of the starchy propriety Pierson Drake is accustomed to—rather, there is a lush sensuality about this impulsive beauty that tempts him unmercifully. Her delectable curves and wide, innocent eyes are enticing enough, but her breathless response to his touch is a lure he can’t resist.

On a voyage that takes them from tropical paradise to the glittering ballrooms of London, Thea and Drake are pulled into a firestorm of illicit passion. Thea knows that once they reach England, the secrets she’s been keeping will kill whatever Drake feels for her. But Drake’s own history has taught him the value of acceptance and the desolation of loss. Thea is the one women Drake has ever trusted with his heart, and he has no intention of losing her— not to the ghosts of the past or the threats of the present. But can he convince Thea to forget the hard lesson she’s learned and take a chance on love?

Getting Out Of Hand
Sapphire Falls, Book 1

Sapphire Falls has few good memories for Mason Riley. So what’s he doing in the middle of the annual town Festival/class reunion eleven years after leaving town without a look back?

Letting the most popular girl in town—then and now—kiss up to him.

Mason has come a long way from the nerdy outcast Sapphire Falls remembers. His genius IQ has helped him make a name for himself with everyone from the World Health Organization to the White House. He’s also got the bank account to make the Mayor of Sapphire Falls herself—the girl who broke his heart in high school and the one who now wants him to donate to the town’s big building project—take notice.

He can’t wait to tell her no in person.

Adrianne Scott loves Sapphire Falls. The sleepy little town where her college roommate was elected Mayor has been the perfect place to escape the fast-paced, high stress sales job she had in Chicago. She’s happy, healthy and the new project means her dream candy shop can now become a reality. Everything is good in her quiet life. Until Mason Riley comes home.

Mason sure doesn’t look—or kiss—like a socially awkward geek. In fact, he makes Adrianne’s heart pound like nothing she’s ever experienced. Which means she needs to stay far away from him.

A great plan, until her friends inform her that Mason’s donation to the project is dependent on keeping him away from the Mayor while he’s in town.

Now all Adrianne has to do is keep Mason busy, distracted and feeling good about—and generous toward— his hometown… oh, and avoid falling for the world-saving, nerd-turned-hot-guy in the process.

Throwback Thursday - Bodyguards In Bed

Great Summer Read!
Bodyguards In Bed
Trade Paperback anthology
Kensington Brava - June 2011
ISBN-10: 0758210337
ISBN-13: 978-0758210333

Excerpt from Chapter 1:

That was the second time he’d admitted to talking to her brother about her. That had to mean something, right? That he was at least interested enough to mention her in passing to Roman.

“What did he warn you about?”

“That you have an unbalanced sense of humor.”

“Unbalanced? That’s harsh.” Though Roman had said worse when she’d switched salt for sugar in his canister and he’d added it to his morning coffee.

It was an old trick and she shouldn’t have gotten away with it, which is what she told him. Sugar and salt didn’t look alike to a person with their background in chemistry, not to mention the different smell, texture and melting rate in hot water.

He’d told her she needed to get a life. Of course it was his effort to see she had one that had prompted the salt in his coffee. He’d fixed her up with the most boring, obnoxiously intelligent man she’d ever met the night before. To make matters worse, they’d gone on a double date and while her brother was having fun with his not-so-brainy arm candy, Danusia had spent the evening arguing quantum physical theory. Not discussing, but arguing.

Her blind date had been an opinionated cretin.

“Do I have to worry you’re going to sabotage the kitchen?” Max asked, proving Roman had been telling tales.

“I don’t know. Are you going to try to fix me up with the most obnoxious man on the Eastern Seaboard?”

“Is that what Roman did?”

“Yes. And when you’re contemplating murder, salt in the coffee doesn’t seem like such a harsh retaliation.”

Max laughed out loud. “I can promise you, I’ve got no plans to fix you up with anyone while you’re here.”

“Good.” She had her own plans and they all revolved around the gorgeous black man whose laugh made her thighs clench.

Weird. Was that a primal reaction, she wondered or an evolutionary one? Whatever it was, there was an ache between her legs that would not go away.

“You’re doing it again.”

“Thinking about something that puts that alarming expression in your eyes.”

“Do I worry you?” she asked in disbelief.

“More than you know.” With that, he spun on his heel and headed out of the room, stopping at the doorway.  “I’ll make dinner tonight.”

“You don’t trust me to cook?”

“Let’s just say I’ll be sure what goes into it, if I make it.”

“I’ll have you know I’m a very good cook.” It was basic organic chemistry and she’d had that particular subject down before she’d been out of training bras.

“When you aren’t switching ingredients on the unsuspecting.”

“I told you, he deserved it.”

“And I don’t.”

“Not yet,” she couldn’t resist saying.

He laughed again and she decided that sound could become more addictive than McDonalds French fries.
