The Book of Your Heart.Every book I write IS the Book of My Heart. It all comes from your heart. You created that book out of your love for the craft. But it’s the Book of My Heart while I’m writing it. My next book will again be the current Book of My Heart until it’s finished. Now you’re probably saying “Every book can’t be THE Book of Her Heart.
”Yes, they can. The Laird’s Lady from The Wild Rose Press, was a Book of My Heart. It evolved from the song, How Do I Live Without You by Trisha Yearwood. When I first heard it, I envisioned a woman on a cliff mourning the loss of the man she’d love the rest of her life. I poured my heart & soul into creating Lady Devin and Laird Kyle. When I wrote the last page of the book, I was crying again, but for a good reason. The book was finished and it was a Happily Ever After.
Or The Captain’s Wench, from Devine Destinies. I love the old black & white movie The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Now my version is a sexy, spicier version, but nonetheless has a handsome sea captain Alexander who’s died and romance novelist Meg who starts out wanting him to go away and ends up wanting him to stay. I gave them a Happily Ever After, but as my readers know, I tend to put a spin on things so that you get to the end of the book and go “Whoa, that is so cool.”

I've read how some authors are like that. The current book that they are writing is a book they held dear, and I would say...
"GOOD FOR YOU!"
If I were in your shoes, I would also say that. Any work that you have written SHOULD be dear to you. You worked on it. You finished it. Basically, you MADE it. That's why it is dear to you, as if it were a person, a relative, an intimate friend. Whatever the case, it is like a par of you.
That is just plain...amazing.
Wonderful post. I have always loved the movie Ghost and Mrs. Muir and I have been in love with the Captain more often than not. :) I always thought it was so tragic that they could not truly be together until she joined him on the other side. Still such a beautiful idea to be loved so completely by your soul mate. I will have to check out your book.

You definitely sound like a writer from the heart. I love strong characters that suffer heartache but still get their happy ever after. Even if it is the second time around. I'm going to have to try and find one of your books to read.
I love the idea of every book being the Book Of Your Heart :) I am reading Donald Maass' THE FIRE IN FICTION. He says there are two types of writers. You sound like a storyteller. I hope I'm one too :)

I confess I feel similarly about reading a wonderful book especially for the first time.
Although I can't imagine what it must be like to write down your original thoughts and characters you've dreamed up and weave them into a seamless dance that is bound forever like a tapestry and then share it with everyone.
But that's why I'm the queen of procrastination and half finished projects and you are an author :)
To me, each book by the same author is like a child, each with their own personality and look, but all part of the same family.
As a reader, I have a similar way of thinking. Unless the book is not so good, my current read is my fave.
It's a good way to be. If you pick just one as a favorite, then all others may disappoint.

Bravo, bravo! I feel that way about every book I read, whether it involves a bit of mystery, suspense or sensuality out of this world. As long as I can savor it and make it my own as much as the author did!

I've often wondered how authors feel about getting asked which of their books is their favorite. I mean, they probably all are so how could you choose one. I haven't read any of your books yet, but they sound like stories I could really get into. I will have to look them up soon.

Stories tend to reflect when an author puts everything, nearly her entire soul and heart into the project.
The stories tend to leap up off the page. So happy you are that kind of author!
I agree. As a reviewer, I try to imagine what was in the heart of the author when writing their book. If you take the time and effort to write a book, I want to be sure to give it my full attention when I am reading it whether I'm reviewing it or not. I try to find something positive in each book I read/review, because there is always something in there to praise.
Patti, your work is always top of the line and I enjoy what you do.
I am such a geek I have The Ghost and Mrs. Muir on both VHS and DVD. The Captain is a man to die for (no pun intended) and very sad that she had to die to be with him.
I think The Ghost and Mrs. Muir resonates with everyone, whether you are rooting for the Captain or Mrs. Muir.
