Guest Blogger - Elisabeth Naughton

Thanks so much to Lucy for hosting the Reader At Home Conference this week! As an author who was supposed to be at RT but couldn’t make it due to a scheduling conflict (sob!!!) I for one appreciate this fun, interactive week she’s put together for all of us. I hope you’re enjoying it as well!

Someone asked me recently how I came up with the idea for my new paranormal series, The Eternal Guardians. The answer is simple – I love Greek mythology. Always have, probably always will. When I was writing STOLEN FURY – my debut book (and 2010 Double Rita® finalist!) – I immersed myself in the stories from ancient Greece because my main characters were on the hunt for three priceless relics of the Three Furies. At the end of that book, I knew I wanted to write something else that was Greek myth centered, and an off-hand comment on the Bradford Bunch blog about the heroes – you know, those sexy guys who were half god, half man - ignited an entire series.

Today, the first book in that series hits store shelves. MARKED is a dark, sexy paranormal about an Argonaut hero who has to find the one woman who unknowingly fulfills an ancient prophecy that will save his people from extinction. The catch? My bad boy hero falls for that woman. Big time. Even knowing she’s marked for sacrifice. What better conflict could there be? If you love paranormals, I hope you give MARKED a chance. And if you love my romantic suspense books, I hope you enjoy this one as well. Same voice, same fast-paced adventure style, whole new world.

Since today is release day and I’m giddy, excited and nervous as hell, please help take my mind off what’s happening in the book stores. Do you read paranormals? Who are some of your favorite authors in the genre? And what cross-over genre authors have you fallen in love with lately?

I read Lucy's first venture into paranormals and enjoyed it.

Recently Olivia Gates sent me one of her Nocturne Bites to review and I enjoyed that too.

Stella Cameron's new series looks interesting and your new release as well.

Usually I read contemporary romances and romance/suspense but I'm trying to read new authors and genres.

Elizabeth, Happy Release Day and Cheers to a successful week!

Best of luck with your release, your cover is wonderful!

Congratulations Elisabeth!!! Marked looks exactly like something I would love!!
Others? Well, JR Ward, Laurell K. Hamilton, and many more, who I unfortunately can't think of right now, as I need to go to bed!!

I wish you all the best and I hope you have/had a fantastic release day!!

Congrats on the release! I have Stolen Fury in my TBR pile. And I'm going to have to order Marked. :) I read a little of everything, and right now am half way through Lover Mine by J.R. Ward. My favs are Lucy Monroe's COTM, Christine Feehan, Jayne Ann Krentz, Christine Warren, Lynsay Sands, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Shelly Laurenston (to name a few) and Linda Howard likes to dabble in this area sometimes too so gotta give her a shout out. ;) In truth though, I don't really think of it as paranormal verse category romance etc. I just buy books by the authors I love and give a new author a try every now and then. For me, it's really about the story and if I know someone weaves a great tale and captures my fascination then I'm going to buy the book regardless of whether it is paranormal, urban fantasy/romance or romantic suspense and so on.

Love paranormals. The Greeks stole their stories from the Romans who took them from an earlier storyteller. Looking forward to reading Rynnonan Byrd, Lydia Dare and JR Ward this week.

Congrats on the release! I am so excited to read Marked!

I actually don't read too much paranormal. I will pick up Marked b/c I loved your Stolen series so much that I know I will love your Paranormal series.

This is how I got stuck on JR Ward. I was a Jessica Bird fan and read everything that she wrote. When I found out that she would be publishing a Paranormal series, I wasn't really thrilled but knew I would at least read the first one! And I am looking forward to reading Lover Mine this weekend :)

Boy, do I read paranormals. The out-of-the-box premise is just so intriguing, I just HAVE to read them. Though paranormal is just one sub-genre that I read.

My all-time fave paranormal author is Christine Feehan. I had also enjoyed reading in the past works from Sherrilyn Kenyon, K. Moning, D. Cooke, Gena Showalter, among others. I'm more focused on the story rather than the author; if the next book is interesting, then I buy it. It is a REALLY good author that grabs my attention and makes me auto-buy the author's books. In that case, I don't have a lot of auto-buys.

I would say that I adore L. Monroe's cross-overs from contemporary to historical w/ the paranormal twist added to it. (And this is not aided by LM's blog, though it does help me jog my memory.) I also like L. Sand's books. I also like N. Roberts' J.D. Robb series. And there are others, but these are the ones that I remember right now.

Lastly...

CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR BOOK!!!

I did not forget! ^__^

Happy release day, Elisabeth! And what a chillingly seductive blurb. Great premise. It's got a Twilight kind of feel, in that the H/h absolutely can't get together...but they do. Exciting!

Thanks for all the great comments, everyone! I hope you all enjoy MARKED. This series is just so fun to write - snarky gods, seething daemons, hunky heroes...who wouldn't love that?

Icia - to answer your question, in addition to my Eternal Guardians series I also write romantic adventure/suspense. The 3rd book in my Stolen Trilogy (Stolen Seduction) released in January, and the first book in the series - STOLEN FURY - was recently nominated for two 2010 RITA awards - best first book and best romantic suspense.

After I finish my current book (the 3rd Eternal Guardian book) I'm switching gears and jumping back into romantic suspense for an anthology I'm actually doing for Kensington with...Lucy Monroe & Jamie Denton! I'm super excited to work with these great women on this new book.

Congrats on your new release. Can't wait for payday to buy my copy.
My favorite paranormal authors(yes more than one) are Shelly Laurenston for her ROTFLMAO stories, Jory Strong(she has several different series that I love), Patricia Briggs and Shelly Munro.
I love shifters the best-dragons, bears, big cats and wolves in that order.
About half the authors I read on a regular basis have both contemporary and paranormal books out.

I love paranormal books, I think my list of authors is very long and way to long to mention. I will list a few everyone has mentioned the well known ones like JR Ward. But I think my favorite one would be Adrian Phoenix she writes the Makers Song series. It is about Dante and Heater and is an on going series that I love I can not wait for the next book to come out in December called Etched in Bone. From there I also like D.B Reynolds who writes the Vampires in America series. And Chloe Neil Chicagoland Vampires is really good, as is Jerri Smith Ready she has a really cool take on vampires.
