Cover Models & Hero Inspiration

You looking for cover models? We've got 'em. What better way to kick off our Readers at Home Conference than with a video of the behind the scenes action in a cover model shoot? Seriously...can you resist?

If the video doesn't work, watch it directly on YouTube here.

I found this video on Malle Vallik's blog. Thanks for sharing this cool behind the scenes look with the rest of us, Malle!

When I went shopping, I've seen the covers of the books that those cover models are in. Though I must say, I get to see the video since it said that it was "private" and such. BUT at least I know which books they were modeling for.

Yeah, they sure look good in cowboy clothing. AND they are hot. GREAT combo there.

I do love those books. :) Have them all and the covers are definitely inspiring. Garrett is coming out soon, and his cover is great too.

I would love to see some behind the scenes cover model shoots. I couldn't get this to work for some reason, but it's a great idea to kick-off the RAH conference! Thanks, Lucy.

I was watching the video and they said a quote for Lina Lael Miller something along the lines of the cowboy being the American equivalent of the knight in shinny amour and it really hit me about that being one of the reasons why I first was drawn so much to romance books in the first place.

Great video thanks for it.

Tamsyn said...

Tried again and this time it worked! Wow! that's one yummy video! Love it! Of course, the guys are not bad either!:o) Looking forward to checking out the books. Thanks for sharing!

I loved the video - have never seen such a behind the scence video before and now I can't wait to read the series! fortunately the books are already on my bookshelf *gg*

Great video and HOT cover models!!
I would sure love to have a job like that- spending so much time with good looking guys is defiantly a good job and I can bet I won't complain about long hours and counts the days until the weekend LOL
I have to say that I don’t agree with the saying in the video that the cover has a very big influence on sales- I think a good cover can always help but if the story is not good and after reading the book cover I'm thinking it's not a good story there is no way I'll buy it just because of the hunk on the cover. I read a lot of Harlequin presents books that have really bad covers, in my opinion, but I still enjoy them very much.

I love stories that have animals in them. A lot of time they seem to make it more lively.

I watched this video when it was released. I never even thought about what went on with the making of a cover, but it was fun to watch the documentary.

Lil said...

I wasn't able to get the video to work but see that others have been successful so will attempt again. Neat subject.

Katy M said...

Yep, I don't think I'd mind that job either. ;D Hot men in beautiful countryside! Thanks for that great post!

Also, I agree with Red about the quote about covers and sales. I've bought plenty of books whose covers were unattractive, embarrassing, or just not representative of the words in between. But because the author writing those books was an auto-buy for me, or recommended to me, I bought them in spite of the cover. However, I think it's fair to state that a good cover has shelf appeal and can benefit a book - like those Mckettrick novels ;)

Jane said...

The models are hot, but the scenery is beautiful, too.

Ashley said...

I think as a whole the romance genre needs some help with it's covers lol it's either hit or miss.

Love Linda's cowboy stories, and the great visuals just add to the story. Thanks for sharing the video with us.

Always love Cowboys and Miller's books are awesome...I just wish TV would get with it and start more sitcoms about the West and Cowboys instead of all the Doctor and Cops shows...I can remenber being in love with "Little Joe" from Bonanza..yep cowboys an American tradition..

What great information to pass along to us! I have always wanted to see the background goings of cover making for books! There is a lot of eye candy as well!

I saw the video a while back. Its pretty neat how they do it. Selecting the clothing and the backdrops shots to go along with the series.

loved this video great insight :)

The thing about cowboys being our version of knights in shining armor is right. Diana Palmer's cowboys got me started on romance. And cowboys covers always draw my attention. I've never been a fan of the scenic covers or the ones where the models head is cut off. I must be honest and admit I haven't read any of LLMs Mckettrick's the series is soo long and I have to start at the beginning when I read a series set. I don't think I could ever catch up and some aren't even available anymore.
