Feel the fire with Catherine Spangler

Hello to everyone! Catherine Spangler here, and I am always delighted to be a guest on Lucy’s blog. She is absolutely amazing. Congrats on all your “happy news”, Lucy! It’s very much deserved.

I’m here to share some news of my own. The second book in my paranormal Sentinel series, Touched by Fire, will be out October 2. That’s only five days away (but who’s counting ?). You can check out the book video at MySpace (www.myspace.com/catherinespangler).

The Sentinel series is about legends of Atlantis . . . sexy alpha heroes . . . strong, resilient heroines . . . combustible sexual attraction . . . magic . . . fantasy . . . myth—all woven into contemporary paranormal thrillers.

The Sentinels are reincarnated Atlantians returning to Earth after thousands of years. Their sole purpose is to track down Belians—evil Atlantian entities who were responsible for the destruction of Atlantis and who are now returning to Earth. The tracking often requires the help of human conductors.

In Touched by Fire, When Marla Reynolds meets ultra-sexy Luke Paxton at a Houston bar, she’s upended by the powerful sexual attraction between them, not realizing it’s the pull of a matched Sentinel and conductor. Luke knows what it is, though, and realizes Marla might be the only person who can help him track a Belian serial bomber. He’ll do whatever it takes to get her cooperation—even if he has to kidnap her. You can read the entire story October 2.

Speaking of reading, is there anything more exciting than discovering a new author that you love? I adore finding an author who writes books I can’t put down, and I immediately have to buy the backlist. I’ve just discovered Sunny and her Mona Lisa series, and Heather Waters (who writes magical historicals).

What new authors have you discovered lately? I’m giving away a set of my first two Sentinel books, Touched by Darkness and Touched by Fire, to someone whose name is drawn from the responses.

Happy reading and hugs,

Catherine

Hi Catherine, welcome back to Lucy's place. Your book sounds very cool :) I love the Atlantis setting idea.

Hmmm, I guess I'd go with Nalini Singh, Jacquie D'Alessandro and Candice Hern for my recent discoveries. I've also heard great things about Colleen Gleason and Meljean Brook - I have their books in my tbr pile.

These are not new authors, just new to me...but I recently "discovered" Kristin Hannah, Patricia Briggs, and Barry Eisler. I had heard of Hannah for years, but always bypassed her. I finally broke down and read her and I was like "Why have I avoided her for so long??!!" She was great. I've read pretty much everything I could find from her.
Briggs was a recommendation I picked up from another authors blog, and started on her Mercedes Thompson books....anxiuosly awaiting the next in the series!
And Eisler was pretty much the same as Briggs. In fact, I just finished his forst John Rain book last night. On to book two this weekend!
Then there is one that I've heard about that intrigued me...C.C. Humphreys Jack Absolute series.
I have ordered the first two books in that series, and I am waiting on them to arrive right now.
Jack has been described as the 007 of the American Revolution. Sounds great, huh??

I know Bertrice Small is an author from way back but she was new to me, I loved her writing from the start. I have started collecting all her books I can find. Another author that hit me that way was Johanna Lindsey. Kathleen Givens is one I am reading now for the first time, I love it. She is going on my hunt list too. Christina Dodd is one I read not to long ago for the first time, I really enjoyed too.

Your book sounds pretty good. Diana Holquist is a new author to me but I think she only has 2 books out. Jill Shalvis is another one. Love her books.

Hello Catherine,
Your sentinel series sounds fabulous and I would love to read it! I'm always finding and reading new authors. Lately I've been reading several books by Hannah Howell. I know she's not "new", but she's new to me and She's written a lot of books I have to catch up on!

Rhonda :-)

Stacy, I love Nalini Singh, but then of course, I'm a paranormal romance junkie. Isn't it interesting how we can discover "new" authors who have been around a long time? I tend to be one of those readers who has to hear the "buzz" for awhile before I check out a new author. Partly because I already have some many books on my TBR pile! ~ Catherine

Welcome, Catherine!!! It's greatto have you back. :) I met some authors at Lora Leigh's RAW that I want to give a try...I'm always reading something, but like you, my TBR bookcase is overflowing, so I often stick with what I know. :)

Hi Catherine,
I discovered J.B. Skully, aka Jennifer Skully, aka Jasmine Haynes and am slowly making my way through all her titles. The JB Skully books are part of a series that had a great suspense story, paranormal goodies and a very hot romance.

Hi Catherine! I just love finding new authors and the best place to do that is blogging. Not only do you get to hear reader feedback but you get to hear from the authors themselves. And I've read some great books by authors I would not otherwise have thought to try like Deidre Knight, Nalini Singh, Jacquelyn Frank and many more.

I just discovered Nalini Singh in August and not too long before that it was Jacquelyn Frank.

Your series sounds really cool! I will have to check it out next time I am at the bookstore. Thanks for being here Catherine.

Thank you all for your comments. I've learned about some new authors to check out. I've really enjoyed blogging here today, but then Lucy has a way of making everyone feel extra special. It's always great to gab with others who like to read as much as I do! ~ Catherine
