It's finally out!!!

NEW POST :)

Okay, so *I've* been looking forward to Kate's first romance release with as much excitement as she has! LOL But it's available now for order at Samhain. Go take a look. :)

Taking the Cake
by Kate Davies

Mollie Mason is sure her night can't get any worse. Stuck in an inflatable rubber cake, she overhears her fiancé slamming her to the entire guest list of his bachelor party-and then she catches him cheating! But discovering her high school crush has witnessed her humiliation is the icing on the cake.

Cade Gallagher has wanted Mollie for years. And when she asks him to help her prove to the world-and herself-that she's not just a good girl, he knows he'd be a fool to say no. But she wants a temporary fling. Will two weeks be enough time to convince her to take a chance on him-forever?

I think the cover is yum-delicious, but then I make no bones about the fact that I prefer a dark haired, dark eyed hero. Shocks me every time a blond or sandy-haired one pops into my head. LOL My dh is sensuality personified to me and has the tall, dark and sexy concept down pat. What type of guy rings your chimes? Do you have a favorite physical description for a hero? Is there someone you picture when reading about a certain type? If you have a link to a picture, share it, or just tell us who it is.

I know it sounds cliched, but I do love to daydream about the tall, dark, and handsome kind of guy :-) My own boyfriend is about two inches taller than me, but he doesn't mind when I decide to wear my three inch heels, lol. I love a guy with muscle but not too much, where he's all bulky. In that department, by boyfriend is perfect :-)

That is a great cover. Hehe, I have to laugh at the warning on that site. Anytime there is an explicit sex warning it makes me want to buy the book! lol

My dream name is him.. http://www.cbsnews.com/images/2006/06/29/imageac115333-1a31-4013-9072-7468522d424c.jpg

*Swoon* J Depp is mighty fine.

When reading a book though I do love it when it's said that the hero has a rock hard chest & thighs, and of course bedroom eyes.
I like dark hair too.

Of course I mean dream MAN, not dream name, Seesh. Where is that edit button when you need it, lol

Oh, Ali...me too. Dh lifts weights and I love his bulging muscles. Of course, he does tons of other stuff that uses that strength - he can be such a handyman which is pretty nifty for a guy whose day job is managing a department spread worldwide. :)

Chantal...JD is one of the few men I really, truly think is sexy (besides dh). It's not a crush, but I can appreciate a work of art. :)

And I wish we had an edit button on comments too. Drives me nuts that we don't. Sigh...

Hmmm tough question! One thing I can say is that when guys look too pretty or too perfect, it turns me off more than it turns me on. Maybe they just don't seem "real" enough to me, I don't know.

I'm also not too fond of long hair or facial hair. There are a few people who I've seen who look good with it, but mostly it's not my thing. And Chantal, Johnny Depp is one of those few:)

I also love interesting eyes. My fave eye colors would be blue/green variations.

I love the cover too. I love men with dark hair. I'm not into blonds much either. I was just teasing my hubby about that the other day. His hair was never black, but it was dark brown. Since we have been living in Southern Cali it has been getting lighter and lighter in the sun. I miss his darker hair. He is still gorgeous to me though!
My hubby also lifts weithts. He has really nice chest muscles :) I love a nice chest.

If I'm reading about dark and handsome guys I picture David Boreanaz. Yes, he's that actor from Bones. :) http://www.kathyreichs.com/bones.htm

Estella said...

Tall dark and handsome does it for me.

Lucy Monroe said...

Michelle...I don't know...beards don't do much for me, but a five o'clock shadow? Oh, yeah...and I'm a geek, I love long hair. LOL Course now that dh keeps his cut like the Rock, I've got a real thing for buzz cuts. :) Isn't it interesting though how the eyes on a person can draw you in no matter what the rest of them looks like? Windows to the soul...you bet.

Kelley...bet dh just loves knowing that. The tease factor is too good to pass up too! LOL

Minna...I had to go looking for David Boreanaz 'cuz I didn't know who he was and couldn't tell on the Bones website which one he was. Just color me ignorant. LOL Now, I know something...or of someone...new. ;-)

Lucy Monroe said...

Estella...we posted at the same time. :) Yep, t,d & h...works for me. LOL

My Dh personifies my dream qualities in a man. Tall: he's 6 ft., I'm not. And for some reason his being taller than me makes me feel safe. Dark: his hair is chocolate brown, and sprinkled with that yummy silver, we keep it cut in a buzz. Handsome: his eys are sky blue and make me melt.
I loved it when Dh was in the military. Forget his dress blues, I lOVED it when he wore his BDU's. TMI I know *g*.

I like dark hair, ice blue eyes, muscles from physical labor (not bulky).
I'm not too fond of lots of tatoos or body piercings.

Stacy Dawn said...

I've always liked them big. Broad, tall, strong hands, and a great smile. **drool**

catslady said...

For real life I don't care but if I get to pick a dream man - longish hair, muscular arms and chest, and taller than me :) Totally bald can be nice too and most accents are a definite turn on.

Lucy Monroe said...

Brandy, LOL...we don't mind. :)

Jodi...body piercings always surprise me in a hero description. Just wait 'til the first guy shows up in my head for a story with a pierced nippled or something. I'm gonna screech. LOL

Oh, Stacy Dawn...a nice smile does it for me every time. Especially on a face that doesn't smile often. :)

Catslady...I'm working toward talking dh into trying the bald thing. I'll let you know if I talk him into it. :)

Hugs to all,
Lucy :)

This question cracks me up because my DH is blond with blue eyes. I happen to think he is the handsomest, most sexy guy around. He has these great laugh lines around his eyes- that just gets me, ya know?

Now the funny part. When I see a guy that I think is sexy, you know, the double take?... he's always got dark hair and eyes. What's up with that?

Lucy Monroe said...

Oh, Lori! That cracks me up too! Bet dh doesn't laugh so hard though. Then...you're too smart to tell him. LOLOL

First I want to say congrats to Kate on her book. I purchased it today and am looking forward to reading it.

As for my ideal guy? I like them tall... generally dark and clean shaven (although a little stubble is sexy). I also tend to gravitate to the nerdy guys...

This book sounds great :) Congrad's Kate :)

My guy, I like them tall, dark, romantic and is always full of surprises. Knows how to dress and is handsome.

Hello Lucy, How are you?

Lucy!!!!

Thanks so much for celebrating my release day with me. (Or in my absence -- the fam and I were out celebrating most of the day.)

I'm thrilled that so many of you like my cover! Scott Carpenter is an amazing artist, and I'm so glad he did the cover for Taking the Cake. Cade is pretty yummy, isn't he? :)

Chantal, the warning made me laugh, too. To me, the parental advisory means my parentals (and parentals in law) should think twice about reading it! LOL

I have to agree with y'all on the Johnny Depp thing. DH and I saw the new Pirates movie a few weeks ago -- can you say swoon?

I don't exclusively write TDH heroes -- the next fella up on deck is a Matthew McConaughey-type blonde. But I do have a soft spot for dark-haired heroes!

And thanks, so much, to those of you who've purchased the book already! I really, really appreciate it, and hope you enjoy!

When this book was mentioned last week, I thought immediately that I wanted it. I'm glad it is now out. Thanks for the reminder, Lucy. :o)

Lucy, I do think stubble can be sexy. It's just the full-on beard that I don't like much. And buzz cuts, yeah, I like those *g*

As for tattoo's and piercings, hmmm. For tattoo's small and tastefully done is ok. If you're like one big tattoo on legs, I'm not so sure...

With piercings, I think they are sexy on the right guy. One of the guys moving my stuff this weekend had his eyebrow pierced and it looked very nice on him:)

I like the tormented heroes. The ones that are so messed up only the heroine will soothe their soul.

Lynette said...

I love that cover! I've just had a book accepted for publication with Samhain, too. So if they come up with a great cover like that for mine, I'll be in my element. :)

Personally, I like blond men with blue eyes -- that's my usual template. Loved Steve McQueen!

Although, having said that, I think it's more to do with the aura around the guy that's important to me. He doesn't have to be conventionally good looking. What he must have though is an element of the 'bad boy' about him.

Woah - Lucy - Fantastic new layout!! It looks terrific!

Cryna said...

I like the tall, broad shouldered, dark haired, dark eyed hero.

I like the new blog layout as well.

Kate's cover is really nice, and the guy is great.

Marcy said...

Congrats, Kate!

Lucy - I'm always a sucker for tall with dark hair and a dimple. ;-)

When my dh and I were first engaged he told a coworker..."You had your chance but she's taken." The guy was tall, had a slight limp and was nice, but shy. Dh told him..."she picked me because you have a handicap." *gasp* I looked at him in shock and was mortified because I'd never thought a thing about his limp. Then, not realizing he'd created a stunned pause in the room, my dh said, "Yeah, you're a blond!"

LMBO! Okay, he was right, I don't go for blonds, but he still got a lou talking to after we left there. :-D

David James Elliott rings my chimes. I love his physique and the 'man in uniform'.
I love moustaches, also, and dh grew one when we got married and still has one to this day.

Kate Davies said...

Loving the new look, Lucy! Very cool!

I'm so glad the book piqued your interest, Julie in OH! I hope you enjoy it!

And congratulations, Lynette! Welcome to the Samhellions! :) The cover artists with Samhain are fabulous, so I'm sure they'll do your book justice. Do you have a release date yet?

Oh, and Marcy -- I was cringing in sympathy at your story! But the blond part was funny. :)

Thanks again, everyone! It's been a fabulous release week!

Lucy Monroe said...

Jen...I love nerds. They can be soooo sexy. :)

Hey, Linda :) One thing my dh has had to learn, but oh, he's yum-delicious at it now is how to dress.

Julie...you are going to love the book!

MichelleB...see, I keep wondering if some guy is just going to look like uber certain hero material to me and he's going to be pierced. LOL

Congrats, Lynette!!! That's great!

Marcy...your story just cracked me up! Ohhh...guys and their humor. OY!!

Robyn...Tom had a very trim, very nice moustache for a while. I liked it...the kids didn't. LOL

Thanks to everyone who likes the new blog skin! I'm really pleased with it too. :)

Lis said...

Like the new look on the blog :o)

Oh gosh, my taste sorta varies between blonde and dark, but I do like a well built guy. Something about a nice pair of arms.

Wow Lucy! Love the new blog colors, layout, etc. I'm typically attracted to men with darker hair, but in general it is more about how a guy carries himself and interacts with you as a woman for me. I'm a sucker for charm and a guy that makes you feel like you're the only important woman in the room.

Rachael said...

I like very tall, and muscular, green eyes, long brown hair. :)

Stacy~ said...

I can't believe I missed a hottie topic LOL.

I like them talk dark and ruggedly handsome. Clive Owen and Gerard Butler come to mind. Johnny Depp is as pretty as I like my men to be *g*

I'm a sucker for brown eyes, and of course a sexy smile. If he has a sense of humor, that makes him really sexy.

Brandy said...

Loved the new look, just wanted to tell you! ;o)

I forgot to mention how excited I am to read Kate's story! I just love that cover....

You know...this is all very good research for my writing. LOL Thanks!

My hero has to be intelligent, patient, and have a great sense of humor. I like dark hair, big shoulders, and a big neck.

Lucy,

I really like Mel Gibson and Keith Urban and they don't look anything alike but they have what it takes.

Keith can sing me a song any day and Mel -well he is a prankster from what I hear and what 6 or 7 children? Not that I want more than the 2 teenage daughters I have. But his sense of humor is sexy.

Did you see the movie "What Women Want"? ...putting on mascara and panty hose...

I have to ground myself because I bought more books yesterday. Yikes!!!
