Glimpses of Lora Leigh...

Lora's been sick, but rather than disappoint readers, she's allowed me to take a couple of "glimpses" of her off of her Forum to share with you. She'll be by to say, "Hey," today as well 'cuz even not feeling totally up to snuff, this lady is pure gold!

For the rest of her Breed fans (like me), her explanation of when and how these books are gonna be published: Berkley Sensation has purchased the rights to all unwritten Breeds. This is wolves, all felines, coyotes, the future winged Breeds and anything else that pops up. LOL This does not include the already published Breed books at Ellora's Cave. I accepted this deal so that the Breed books would not be seperated as the series continues, by publishers. Because of the continuim the Breeds must continue in line with the same publisher. Tanner's Scheme and Dawn's Awakening with fall in after Harmony's Way, and their stories will then be completed and will fit into the Wolf Breeds where Tanner and his mate were mentioned. For the rest of the explanation, click here.

Lora when her son went to 4-H Camp: I can't handle it. I haven't slept in two nights. Not since he left. I go to sleep and I have horrible dreams. What if somebody hurts my baby? What if he gets all that wild courage he has going at midnight and decides to sneak out of the cabin. They do that at camp. I know. I've heard about it. My cousins did it. What if he gets in the lake. What if a snake bites him or some crazed inhuman axe murder.... I'm gonna puke. To read the rest of this hysterically funny ramble click here.

Wanna see some cool pics of Lora at RWA National? There's a totally sweet one with hubby, I just love. Click here and here.

As a quick reminder, her Shadowed Legacy is now in print and available *signed* at Dreams by Night.

Wanna know what *I* did this morning when I should have been writin'? I dyed my hair! All that lovely gray is gone for my 39th birthday (in a couple of days) and I think that's only appropriate. LOL I usually have it professionally done with three different shades, but I don't have time to spend three hours getting gussied right now. But last summer I did pink highlights...man, were they jazzy.

So, as a way for Lora to get to know you all, why don't you share the craziest thing you've done with your hair? Or maybe *want* to do, but haven't?

I want to bleach my hair and then dye it a really pretty purple (the almost black won't go purple without the bleaching). I'm thinking for my 40th.

I think I would go with green as a hair color (my favorite color :) )...however, I would only be brave enough to do it on Halloween and it rinses out in 2 washes..LOL!

Hope you feel better Lora!

Can't really dye my hair right now because I am in my third trimester of pregnancy. My next birthday I will have to consider it since I have alot of grey and will be 40. Knowing me, it probably won't be anything weird or wild.

Kathleen, I had a cousin who went green. She got a lot of Kermit jokes thrown at her. :o)

Cherie, I am a dye-a-matic. I get bored really easy and am always going with a new color. Being pregnant was torture for me because of that reason. However, I never had prettier nails. :o)

Hope you feel better, Lora! My cure all is Aleve Cold and Sinus. One pill every 24 hours, works like a charm. :o)

I used to have long dark brown hair with this thick white streak (like Jay leno had lol). everyone thought I put it there but it was natural. I'm grey now and only tried dying it once and thought it made me look like a hooker lol. I've decided to stay grey - hey it's me lol.

I have a blond streak(natural) on each side of my head. I decided to have some blond highlights put in the rest of my hair. Needless to say the hairdresser got it too blond. My youngest daughter was active in sports and she wouldn't even acknowledge at games. My hair is normally dark brown.

I've had long hair almost all my life, one day I'll be brave enough to cut it short. Oh, and my Mom was a redhead and my Son is a redhead, where I am brown haired with lots of natural red and blonde highlights, I'd like to have red hair one of these days.

I've had dark forest green hair and bright fuschia hair.

My favorite tends to be a bright copper though I was bored and went blonde last week.

When I get the call/email for my first sale, I'm going for some outragous blue!

The craziest thing I have done with my hair is cut it really short and spiky.
I have gotten highlights, but not anything cool like pink. Just a light shade of brown to match my dark brown. Not very exciting I know.

In high school a lot of the girls would put thier hair up in a pony tail then shave the back of the head under the pony tail. I never did, it just looked so..odd! All my friends did it though.

Hello Lucy & Bloggers :)

I hope Lora gets well soon. Summer colds are the worse ones to have.

I have been wanting to read some of Leigh's book. Her books look really good.

My hair is long and the craziest thing I would probably do is cut it shoulder length. I don't think I would ever do it though. I love my hair long. I am so scared to get it cut. For the first time I actually got my hair cut about 3yrs ago. There is this one place I do go to get it cut. I don't get that much cut of. I atleast get my ends cut. One thing I would like to do to my hair is die it blue or pink. My favorite colors *G* I would probably do it on halloween though *G*

Have A Wonderful Weekend EVeryOne & Stay Cool :)

Sorry to hear Lora is under the weather! Hope you feel better soon, Lora.

When I was in college, a friend was going to cosmetology school, so I used to go over to his house and have him experiment on my hair. He'd try different styles and colors, just to practice. (I was a very trusting soul at the time.) One time, when he was driving me back to the ferry, he said, "Oh, by the way, I decided against red this time. I used purple." WHAT?

Actually, it turned out to be a very nice shade of blackberry, that just popped in sunlight. Best hairstyle I ever had.

Oooo. A few years ago, I wanted to bleach my hair then go neon blue. A friend of mine dated a guy who had hair that color and I loved it! Unfortunately, I didn't think my boss would go for it...

I've also thought about going neon pink as well. Maybe someday:)

Thanks for all your well wishes.
As for hair. I'm driving my husband crazy with the coloring. Its almost totally gray, so I had the underside bleached once, the upper half dyed a dark brown. It was cool for about six weeks. LOL. When I had it all dyed though, there these awesome highlights. Of course, he doesn't like it. But making him crazy with the colorings is always a lot of fun.

Oh, I hope Lora feels better soon. I'm just getting over a bug myself. Me and the bathroom sink were best friends yesterday, lol
I'm glad she let you post this, Lucy. I can't wait for her next breed book, I just love them all.
As for my hair, the craziest thing I've done with it was to allow my best friend to cut it, lol. It was just funny because we were teens not little girls, and she's taking snips from here and there, it was just all uneven. Now the craziest thing I've ever wanted to do with my hair is to just shave it all off and start all over again :-)

I have dark brown hair, and I had my sister put in bleach blond highlights in it.

I totally understand about going gray and dying your hair. I'm 29 and already 60% gray... although you wouldn't know it since I color my hair anytime my roots really start to show. My hair is naturally a pretty dark brown color, but when I color I have fun. Right now it's a auburn-ish color. Last fall I went purple and this past spring I went natural brown with blonde, red and orange highlights.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Lora. I really enjoyed reading "Megan's Mark" (my first of your books) and am looking forward to finding more of them.

You all are not going to believe this, but I totally forgot to let Lora know when I posted the blog. I've only just now sent her a message. Color me frazzled! LOL

But she found us anyway!!! Thanks, Lora! Smooches!

Loving the hair stories...or nonstories. *G* I went blonde once, not on purpose. My son hated it, my husband made the mistake of telling me he loved it. I'm a brunette - my hair is so dark brown, it's almost black in its natural state. I felt like he was having an affair on me. I dyed it back the next day! LOL

To some people this is crazy, but to me it isn't. The day before yesterday I spent 9 hours getting my hair all put into individual braids. It isn't the braiding part that is crazy, but the time spent in doing it. But, then I don't have to do anything to my hair except wash it for 3 months!!! Totally worth it.

Meljprincess said...

Oh, wow. For years I've done crazy things with my hair. I'm an old school punk rocker! For the last couple years I've had a huge blonde mohawk. I don't stand it up now 'cause I don't party the way I used too.
Feel better, Lora!

Lucy Monroe said...

Kelley...I've always wondered why it takes so much less time to have my daughter's hair braided in Mexico than the stylists take here. I've often thought I'd crumble under the 9 hours in a chair if it were me though. :) Bet your neck muscles ache afterward. Bet even more that you look totally gorgeous with the do though!

Mel...hon, love it! The one hairstyle I find always fascinating is the standing mohawk in a startling color. It just looks so cool to me. :) One day, I'm going to write a heroine who wears her hair that way. But first I gotta know how you do it. Hm...might need some research info from you.

Okay, it's gotta be obvious that unusual is something I like. LOL

Thanks, EVERYONE, for sharing. This has been a fun discussion. Now...back to the keyboard...the other keyboard that is. :)

Cryna said...

Well, I am chiming in here late as usual, but would you believe that I have never, ever changed the color of my hair or done anything crazy to it. I guess I am just boring when it comes to things like that.

Kelley said...

Thanks Lucy! Maybe I should go to Mexico do get mine done next time.

Veronica said...

I would like to go platnium blonde. I have gone red but I would have to go to a salon to get that color and I so don't want to spend that kind of money.

Maureen said...

I have never died my hair but when the gray is noticeable I would go with platinum

Dannyfiredragon said...

Lora, hope you feel better soon.

I dye my hair, because I don't like me natural hair color, which is a strangemix between, red, brown and blond. Now it's dark brown

Melissa said...

Better late than never here. A migraine made me miss yesterday. Adding my get well wishes to Lora!

I dye my medium brown hair about every 6 weeks due to grey. Nothing too funky, fairly close to my original shade. Anyway, this spring I decided I wanted highlights and got one of those all in one kits that should've left me with light "golden brown" highlights. Right! Came out creamsicle orange. Not a good look for me. I did an awful job of getting the highlights spaced evenly too. Several big streaks of orange about a 1/2 inch wide all over my head. I found someplace open on Sunday and had it fixed after church the next day. Have decided I need to know my limitations when it comes to home coloring LOL.

Meljprincess said...

Very cool, Lucy. I'd be glad to help you with research. I had a friend in FL who used to iron his mohawk to make it stand up. And you wouldn't believe some of the things other friends have used to keep the 'hawk standing. *g*
I'm always asking why there are no heroines with mohawks in romance novels. It's always the same..."hair down to her waist". If you wrote a book with a mohawked heroine I'd be the very first in line to read it. As an aspiring writer I don't know why I just don't try to write one myself.

Lucy Monroe said...

You know what I find so cool about this discussion? How diverse we all are. It's fun. Some of us have what I like to term "hair quirks" and others don't...just goes to show that in the romance "family" we're all unique. :)

Happy Saturday everyone!

Hugs to all and hoping Lora is feeling better today...

Lucy :)

Happy Saturday, Lucy. Yes, Lora, hope you're feeling better today.

I hate to mess with my hair! It's way too long now (past mid back) and needs to be cut. For me the best style is something wash and go. I've never dyed it. It used to be much redder, but started browning several years ago. Now it's auburn.

Jennifer L hart said...

I have dark brown hair and the 'hair of age' as I term it isn't coming in just grey, it's white and it stands straight up! I'm going to be twenty seven this month on the twenty third so by the time I get into my mid forties I'll look like Einstein with boobs. Either that or I will have yanked it all out!

Hi Lucy and Lora,

I hope you feel better soon Lora, it really sucks not to feel good. And I hope those contracts you have signed are the easiest books you've ever written. I almost feel your burden of these time crunches... I would hate that.

Lucy - yesterday was an Awesome day as I got the mail late and low and behold my package came already from Kate and now I have the Alcolar Family Series autographed. Kate even put a heart sticker inside and sent a note which I will have to keep as well. Since I'm attending another booksigning next Saturday in Michigan, I will use Kate Walker's book bag. Woohoo!!!!

Thanks so much for the lovely time and the gifts. I do appreciate it.

Lucy Monroe said...

Wash and wear hair definitely works for me, which is why I'm growing mine long again. Then I can choose to gussy up or go with wash and wear (and not look like a crocodile with fur). LOL

Oh, Jennifer...I'm cracking up!

Debbie, isn't Kate an absolutel sweetie? But then you are too!

Hugs to all,
Lucy :)
