Thursday's Special Extra Prize Post

This time I asked an author the question: What's your favorite vacation destination? Or if you'd rather, where would you go if you could go anywhere *right now*?

Melissa Schroeder said, "I'd love to go to Scotland right now. Anywhere in Europe actually, but I am writing about some Immortal Highlanders, so maybe studying the Highlander men up close might help. I have been unable to convince my husband it is all for research."

She's giving away a signed copy of the print edition of Operation Love as an extra prize in tonights drawing.

What about you? What's your favorite vacation destination? Or if you'd rather, where would you go if you could go anywhere *right now*?

Hugs,
Lucy

I would go to Australia since my brother is studying at the University of Western Australia. I have not seen him for awhile and I miss him. Talking on the phone is just not the same. He has done some travelling while there and he says it is beautiful. It would have to be after my baby girl is delivered in October since I doubt my OB/Gyn would allow me to travel that far now that I am in my last trimester.

My realistic vacation would be to my dh's family's cottage on the lake in upper Michigan. It's set in a wooded lot, cooler due to the trees and right on the water. *sigh* Heaven.

I would love to travel just about anywhere right now. I would love to be on a beach just about anywhere right now instead of looking out my window at the dark gray skies and rain coming down.

I have always wanted to go to Fiji, I have many friends who have visited there and everyone says how beautiful it is and how wonderful the people are.

We have a timeshare in Cabo San Lucas. However, with our busy schedule, our daughter has used it in the past two years instead of us.

The end of August we go with friends to the beach (Wildwood Crest, NJ) for a long weekend (4 days). It is bittersweet -- great to see everyone, but also signifying that summer is almost over.

Oh, man...you know reading the comments on JJ Massa's blog had me craving chocolate, but reading yours is making me itch to buy plane tickets. Pretty much anywhere you all have mentioned!

The next big trip I want to take with my family? Either Europe again or China. We went to Australia and New Zealand last year and it *was* wonderful Cherie (but I'm with your doc - no flying this close to popping). This year, we took the kids to Disneyland and are hoping to take them to NY (we're dealing with some family stuff that might put the trip off for a while).

Okay, so you can all see right now that besides buying books, pretty much most of the money I make writing gets spent taking my family traveling. :)

The most amazing thing is that my husband had NEVER traveled before he met me and now he's a totally comfortable international jet setter. We fit! LOL

Oh, and Susan, hon...we all knew what you meant! It has been great, hasn't it?

Has everyone checked the prize award listing? I'll have to have a drawing at the end of the week awarding prizes that go unclaimed. :)

Hugs to all!
Lucy :)

I would love to go to Africa. I had a wish list for my life. The places I was going to go to are:
Alaska, Africa, Australia, and maybe check out Europe. I never planed on getting a disease that would cause me to have chronic pain. Cold is one of the things that make it worse so Alaska is out. But I am still able to live some of my dreams through books.

This is an easy question.
Dream destination is Italy...anywhere and everywhere in Italy.
Fav place I have been to is Little Switzerland, North Carolina. It is a little town in the mountains and it has the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets I have ever seen.

Ok, I know this is not an exotic spot, but I really would like to go back to Florida on vacation. My fiance and I went last year, and stayed at someone's timeshare and had such a wonderful time. I would give anything to go back there again.

I'm a cruise junkie and take at least one a year. It's the one week out of the year I completely relax. No email, no phone calls, just me and my family discovering whatever destination the ship takes us too. I've traveled to many different places, but my favorite so far is Alaska. It's absolutely beautiful. The scenery is breathtaking. There's no more beautiful place on Earth--at least that I've seen so far. And right now, with temperatures reaching 115 degrees where I live, I'd love to be in Alaska where it's only about 65.

Kiki said...

I've been to lots of places all over the world, so it's hard for me to pick a favourite. At the moment, going to Hong Kong is on the top of my travel list.
I love city travel. I'm not much of a beach girl.

I've been to a lot of Eastern Europe (my dad was stationed in Germany when I was in grade school)... and I've been over most of the US. I'd really like to visit Australia and New Zealand some day. But my choice of location for today is ICELAND. I've always loved seeing pictures of this small country and according to the weather report it is a nice 60 degrees! (Almost anything is better than the 95 where I live.)

I want to go back to Italy. I was there for a few days when I was 13, but I didn't appreciate it as much as I would now. Ahhh - Italy.... Oh, and Austria is beautiful, too! Hmm - then I'd like to go back to Turkey (I used to live there) and Greece. Spain would be nice. Hmm - so many places - so little time and $$$$... LOL

Ahh...I'm just about to return to Spain...in my imagination that is. My hero and heroine in my new book are getting to know each other...next stop, a cruise on his yacht. That should appeal to you, Jen. :)

Tori...sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope things are looking up now.

Now...I'm off to visit Amber and Miguel...happy sigh!

Oh man, what a tough question! There are so many places I'd like to see. But for today, I'd have to say Scotland (as well as the rest of the UK). Mostly because it IS on my list and my best friend is currently on a plane on her way there at this very moment.

She got invited to participate in the Scottish Highland Games there since she finished in the top 2 in the Women's World Championships this year (held in Mesa, AZ). I really wanted to go along, but wasn't able to for various reasons.

Add on that I have a really good online friend I'd love to meet who lives and Glasgow and it would be the perfect trip. Oh well!

Other than the UK, I'd love to cruise around all the Hawaiian Islands as well as see the Matterhorn. I could go on, but I'd be here for days:)

My favorite destination is "anywhere but here". In all seriousness, I love Europe. DH and I have travelled to Paris, Salzburg, Villach (Austria), and Venice. I got my favorite pair of boots in a shoe store in Venice.

Next stops are Munich, Prague, and Rome.

What's your favorite vacation destination? Or if you'd rather, where would you go if you could go anywhere *right now*?

Oh, that's a tough one. Too many places to choose from! One dream of mine is to someday take an Alaskan cruise, while there are still glaciers and it's still vastly unsettled.

I'd also love to return to Norway -- Oslo, Stavanger, and a little town called Hellvik -- and France -- see Paris and the Loire Valley again, plus Normandy and Provence.

And then there's the small town in England where my grandfather came from and Scotland and Ireland, of course. And Australia...can't forget Australia.

As I said, too hard to choose!

I would really love to visit another country though I'm not sure where I would want to go first since I have never left before. Right now I would have to say that I want to be in Ohio since that is where me stepson lives. We have enjoyed many conversations over the phone as well as sending new pics but I have not met him in person yet.

Lucy,

Your blog page is so addictive! All this talk of books and travel - love it.

I'd be hard pressed thinking of a single special place - so many I want to return to and then there's the list of places I haven't been to: the Caribbean, Morocco, Iceland, Budapest....

Instead I'll say that I've just had a brilliant holiday with my family in northern Queensland (Australia) on the Great Barrier Reef coast. It was fantastic. White sand, magnificent corals and sea life, palm trees, rainforest, balmy sea breezes. I'd love to have extended the holiday and stayed another week or two.

I'd love to travel all over and the experience the best every place has to offer - particularly Greece and Scotland.

Until that's feasible, lol, I love being by the shore and would love to be able to vacation there for a whole summer. Usually I get to Rhode Island at least once every being close - we only have the LI sound where I live, just not the same as being by the ocean waves.
